Nyeri Gaikundo AA:

Importer's Description:

The dry fragrance has a sweet honey note, with accents of red berry, citrus, warming spices, and tea. Pouring hot water extracts a cooked sugar smell from the grounds, with a scent of baked fruit pastry, and brown sugar. Pushing my spoon through the crust released a nice cranberry note too. There's quite a lot to catch your attention in the cup, which is what we hope for from an AA Kenya! But if I had to spotlight Gaikundo's "essence", I'd have to say it's the mouth refreshing acidity that you'll find in light roasts. It's a high toned cup of vivid brightness, augmented by flavor notes of sweet citrus and berry. That combination of acidity and fruity hints leads to punchy profiles of blood orange, and raspberry lemonade, that are delicious and a bit juicy! Spiced aromatics see a return as the coffee cools off, and the pairing of spice and fruit advances a tasty spiced cranberry juice flavor. The perfect Kenyan coffee to enjoy as a light roast pourover brew, where cup clarity and the fruited accents are highlighted.
